Forum Islas del Mar

The third edition of the European Islands Intercultural Forum, “Islas del Mar”, takes place from May 7 to 10, 2025.

This year, the forum is hosted by the municipality of Sao Jorge in the Azores, on the initiative of the Association of Municipalities of the Autonomous Region of the Azores (AMRAA), Velas City Council and the international association Eurinsula. The event's scientific committee is coordinated by the University of Cagliari in Sardinia, Italy.

The conference will be held on May 8 and 9, and will focus on the following themes through several round tables:

• Transport and insularity
• Cooperation and internationalization
• Culture, language and identity
• New development models: “Energy transition
• Economy and intercultural tourism

The forum will provide an opportunity for the University of Corsica to present the Excellence Network of Island Territories (RETI) and the work of its researchers, with presentations by Sebastien Quenot, Senior Lecturer in Education and in charge of the UNESCO Chair "Devenirs en Méditerranée" and Lea Giudicelli, doctoral student in the "Lieux, Identités, eSpaces et Activités (LISA) laboratory at the University of Corsica and the CNRS.
